As I roamed the streets of Uptown with my Nikon during the mid-1970s, I passed dozens of bars. Alcoholism was a huge problem for many of the people who lived here during this era. The sign on this bar’s door caught my eye every time I walked past it. The owner must have really known his market. It was a popular bar. The sentiments expressed in the sign resonated with alcohol-dependent people who were constantly being taken advantage of. I’m not sure how many of people could READ the sign, but I am sure that the idea got around. Looking back now, I love the starbursts on the sign. They are soooo 70’s.
