When photographing in Uptown during the mid-1970s, I focused primarily on people. My intent was to capture a sense of the place through the people who lived there. Today, I came across this image which I believe is Wilson Avenue, looking east toward Sheridan Road. Frankly, I can’t remember much about the shot or why I took it. But I thought some folks who live in Uptown today might enjoy seeing what it looked like 40 years ago. If I got the location wrong, somebody please contact me and I’ll update the entry. I’m guessing based on the Sheridan Plaza Hotel sign in the shot. Wikepedia says the building has achieved national landmark status, although it is no longer a hotel. Evidently, after sitting vacant for many years, the structure was renovated and turned into apartments in 2009.
