This group of bad boys formed the nucleus of the Latin Kings in Uptown during the mid-1970s. When I took this shot in 1976, there used to be a small bodega on the corner of Winthrop and Ainslie which served as Latin King headquarters. Here, the most visible of the Uptown Latin Kings posed for a group portrait. I didn’t ask them to assume these poses. They just did it reflexively.
