In 1973, these were some of the most immaculately maintained fields I saw in eastern Tennessee. This farmer must have been very prosperous. This barn and split rail fence conjured up images of an earlier time, even back in the 1970s. You could sense the pioneer spirit of independence and self-reliance in the people of Tennessee.
