Uptown in the 1970s was a true melting pot; people from many different cultures were packed together there. Many Asians populated the northern parts of the neighborhood where I photographed this Japanese man on a cold January day in 1975. His eyes were filled with kindness, wisdom and understanding. He gave me a slight smile as I photographed him. He was very curious about what I was doing.
